HOSPITAL CARE
You are improving
hospital efficiencies
A new project funded by The Hospital Research
Foundation Group is exploring how hospitals can
better manage resources and prioritise care, to reduce
congestion and waiting times for patients.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is being used to analyse data
from de-identified electronic medical records within the
Central Adelaide Local Health Network (CALHN), to find
areas for improvement in operational flows.
The project is being driven by Matthew Williams,
Professor Gerry O’Callaghan and Madison Bills (pictured).
The team aims to understand how patients’ different
needs – their diagnosis, complications, severity of illness
and social circumstances – affect hospital demand.
The findings hope to help health networks nationally
improve ED congestion and waiting times for care.
