REGIONAL HEALTH
THANKS TO YOUR DONATIONS,
you’re helping regional communities
access better healthcare.
Improving baby eye care
Fat Farmers reach grows
Five multifunctional otoscopes to help
examine newborns’ eyes have been
purchased for Wallaroo, Clare, Port Pirie,
Jamestown and Crystal Brook’s birthing sites
as part The Hospital Research Foundation
Group’s regional funding.
Thanks to your support, rural health initiative
Fat Farmers has grown its presence across
even more regional communities!
Newborn babies undergo a comprehensive
wellness check before they can be discharged
from hospital, however wait times for eye
assessments had been pushed out due to a
lack of equipment.
Midwives are also being upskilled to use the
multifunctional otoscopes, and help reduce
wait times for these checks.
The number of towns now hosting a Fat
Farmers fitness group is 40 – up from 18
a year ago when The Hospital Research
Foundation Group first came on board as its
Major Health Partner.
Fat Farmers is also launching a new health
truck that visits towns and has partnered
with like-minded group Active Farmers to
increase their reach even further.
