PALLIATIVE CARE
THANKS TO YOUR SUPPORT,
more people can access quality palliative care.
Support for
disadvantaged women
Laurel Hospice
upgrades
The statewide Palliative Care Research
Collaboration (PCRC) project, funded by
The Hospital Research Foundation Group, is
helping under-served communities access
quality palliative care.
Laurel Hospice has undergone a series
of upgrades to create a more supportive
environment for patients and their families.
Amongst its many activities, the PCRC has
delivered a practical wills and palliative care
planning class to disadvantaged women at
the Playford Women’s Shed.
“The class was very helpful as a way to get
women to start thinking about these types
of matters that aren’t necessarily on their
minds,” Women’s Shed founder Raelene said.
Thanks to a $2 million Federal Government
grant, proudly facilitated by The Hospital
Research Foundation Group, the upgrades
included soundproofed patient rooms,
dedicated wellness spaces and a redesigned
reception area.
“Ensuring the physical environment of
the hospice promotes the highest level of
privacy and dignity, at what can often be
an extremely difficult time for families is so
important,” said SALHN CEO Kerrie Mahon.
This work is only possible thanks to kind-hearted people like you!
