PALLIATIVE CARE
Comfort from Treasure Bears
A valued Treasure Bear service has been
providing comfort to bereaved families within
palliative care for the past 10 years, giving them
the chance to reminisce about their loved ones.
As one patient said about her husband:
“Receiving the bears filled a physical gap that
he left. I have felt his presence through the bears,
so much so that I was able to find sleep for the
first time since he died.”
This service is proudly supported by The
Hospital Research Foundation Group, and each
bear lovingly created by a volunteer sewer.
If you would like to volunteer or support this
treasured service, please contact our friendly
team on (08) 8244 1100.
Helping families through child's heartache
Supporting families who have a child in palliative
care is one of the most impactful things we can do.
That's why we're proud to be funding a peer
mentor program delivered through the Women’s &
Children’s Hospital Paediatric Palliative Care Unit.
The program helps to build support networks for
families with the only people who truly understand
their experience – other bereaved parents.
After a successful pilot in 2022, The Hospital
Research Foundation Group – Palliative Care is
proud to continue funding the program until 2026.
