CREATIVE HEALTH
Creative path to mental wellness
Free weekly art sessions are now available
for inpatients at the Royal Adelaide Hospital,
The Queen Elizabeth Hospital and the
psychiatric ward at Glenside.
Led by visual arts tutor and artist Kaz Pedersen,
this in-hospital program expands on her weekly
sessions for veterans and first responders at
Fullarton Art Studio.
Creative art sessions boost mental health,
relieve stress, encourage creative thinking,
increase confidence, develop fine motor
skills and alleviate boredom.
You’re changing lives!
The Activity Hub at the Repat Health Precinct
delivers hands-on activities to people
recovering from brain or spinal injuries, run
by The Hospital Research Foundation Group –
Creative Health.
The Hub provides woodwork, arts and crafts,
gardening and more under the supervision of
diversional therapist Brad Wilson.
Volunteer and ex-patient Jo Trandafil (pictured)
said it provides an outlet for people away from
the ward, helping to reduce anxiety, improve
mental health and support their rehabilitation.
“The Hub is music, it’s laughter, it’s noise, it’s
happiness, it’s joy. I don’t think people realise
the importance of it,” Jo said.
“People say you do arts and crafts, its more
than that. It is a really special place.”
