CHILDREN’S HEALTH
THANKS TO YOUR DONATIONS,
your kids’ health is in good hands.
Giving hope to
preemie babies
Exercise the key
for autism
The list of complications are endless for
premature babies, including respiratory
and heart issues, feeding problems, a weak
immune system and more.
An exciting new program in Western
Australia is helping increase physical activity
for kids on the autism spectrum – and
showing fantastic results.
For Jo Slade, whose son Ari (pictured)
was born 10 weeks early and weighed just
1350 grams – or 3lb,1oz – it was the most
challenging time of her life.
For program participants Kitty and Bunny
(pictured) and their mum Carolyn, the
experience has been overwhelmingly positive
– one they hope lays a foundation for future
participation and enjoyment.
It’s the reason The Hospital Research
Foundation Group is proud to fund new
research by Associate Professor Thomas
Sullivan at SAHMRI to improve premature
birth outcomes, helping preemie babies go
on to live full and healthy lives.
Run by Associate Professor Timothy Fairchild
from Murdoch University, with support from
The Hospital Research Foundation Group
through a Telethon grant, the program not
only boosts physical health but also social
skills, resilience and confidence.
Thank you for improving the health of babies, children and young people.
