Your support has given Lynette a better life
A life-changing surgery for people with
Parkinson’s returned to Flinders Medical Centre
after 2.5 years, thanks to equipment purchased
by The Hospital Research Foundation Group.
The surgery – called Deep Brain Stimulation
(DBS) – involves implanting electrodes within the
brain that help regulate body movement and ease
symptoms of Parkinson’s and Essential Tremor.
Lynette Duncan was the first patient to undergo
DBS with the new equipment and says the
change was “immediate”.
“It’s quite a daunting operation but I can say now
it’s been really fantastic, it’s been life-changing.”
Thank you for giving Lynette a new lease on life!
