HEART DISEASE
You can feel so proud!
A world-first imaging device
aimed at preventing heart
attacks is progressing to human
trials, thanks to your support!
After an initial grant in 2021
to develop the technology,
Dr Jiawen Li was awarded an
additional $250,000 in 2023 to
take her device to human trials!
A biomedical engineer from the
University of Adelaide, Dr Li was
also named in the 2023 global
list of Innovators Under 35 by
MIT Technology Review – the
only Australian in the list!
New clinic 'absolutely brilliant'
Yvonne Rech (inset) describes her heart
condition as like “my heart is flip flopping
around in my body”.
Yvonne has atrial fibrillation (AF), a common
heart arrythmia.
And despite having AF for years, Yvonne said
it’s only since she’s seen the expert nurses
(above) running a trial clinic at the Royal
Adelaide Hospital that she feels she’s getting
on top of the condition.
“It has been absolutely
brilliant,” she said.
The trial AF clinic is funded by The Hospital
Research Foundation Group, thanks to your
generous gifts!
Monthly giving is the only way to provide
reliable, ongoing funding to continue this work.
