UNDER OUR ROOF
Easing stress during cancer treatment
When Lorna Treacey turned 50, she was looking
forward to a new chapter in her life. Her children
were adults and living independent lives.
But seven weeks after her 50th birthday, she
felt a lump under her armpit and her worst fears
were confirmed – breast cancer.
Living in Whyalla, Lorna counted 10 trips to
Adelaide for various treatments. But thankfully
she found Under Our Roof to stay for five weeks
of radiation, with her parents and children able
to stay with her at various times for support.
“Having that house was a godsend,” said Lorna.
“It takes the financial pressure off, which
takes away the stress and worry. It made
a huge difference in our lives.”
