CHILDHOOD CANCER
Childhood cancer is the most
devastating of all diseases.
Improving survival rates and long-term quality
of life for families hit by these horrible cancers
is vital. Thankfully you have made a remarkable
impact in 2023, with more still to come.
DID YOU
KNOW?

Bringing research to human trials
A new treatment is now available for children with
an incurable brain cancer, thanks to your support.
For the first time, CAR T-cell therapy – which
involves genetically engineering a patient’s
cancer-fighting T-cells to create ‘supercharged’
CAR T-cells – has been trialled in Australian children
with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).
“We have been working on this treatment for
the past four years so I am incredibly proud
that these young patients will finally benefit
from our innovative work here at the RAH,”
Professor Michael Brown said.
